There was Blood Victor Bermudez 14.DEC.08
Saturday night at the American Airlines Arena in downtown Miami the Mixed Fighting Alliance card titled “There will be blood” lived up to its name.
In the co-main event of the night Bobby Lashley, former WWE superstar, made his MMA pro debut against Joshua Franklin. The 33 year old Lashley scored with a right hook to the forehead that prompted referee Jorge Alonso to call in the ring side physician to take a look at the cut just above the right eye of Franklin. The bout was immediately called to a halt as the Pinnelas Park native would not be allowed to continue. Unlike the current UFC heavyweight champ and former WWE superstar himself Brock Lesnar, Lashley was victorious in his first MMA bout with a TKO win in just 41 seconds of the opening bell. The Parker, Colorado native showed his strength in route his first win by picking up the 237 pound Franklin off his feet and slamming him to the mat just before scoring the decisive blow . Lashley hopes to challenge Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight title in the future as Fightwire Magazine learned at the pre fight press conference. (read more) Fights Coming To the US Virgin Islands

That change in opponents from Shamrock to Seth Petruzzeli proved costly for Kimbo as the one time UFC fighter did what many proven MMA participants have been preaching by possibly putting an end to the Kimbo era in just 14 seconds.
